Why are Yankee fans disrespectful to other teams? I think you should explain that.

The yankees are evil, simple as that. The ownership tries to buy championships, then complains when teams not in the largest market in the country want to level the playing field. The fans think they are "entitled", and when it is proven that players on the team are cheaters they ignore it.

Let's take it back to Babe Ruth, "The Curse of the BAMBINO"...lol..one of the main reasons why we are till death rivals with the Red Sox. I guess in our modern day we forget about the history of our teams. I am a hardcore Yankees fan, and instead of bashing on the teams by using vulgarity I turn their team's history on them. Because I reside in Los Angeles, I get a lot of crap for being a Yankees fan and not a Dodgers fan. I never back down and never will, as a matter of fact I've been told to burn my Yankee gear..-__-. So pathetic. Anywho going back to the Yankees/Red Sox history is quite bitter. Ever since the Red Sox let go of Babe Ruth it's been very hard for them to win a World Series, hence the hate for the Yankees since they picked up the Great Bambino.:D Angry rival fans come and go, but what makes the difference is to have mutual respect for the sport and its players. If we wanna see a common goal, then take it like this United States vs. Japan (top baseball competitors), United States vs. Dominican Republic, United States vs. Cuba. One common goal to be the best in the one of the best sports ever, Baseball.<3

If you wish to delude yourself that money has not been the key to Yankee teams, so be it.

If you want to talk disrespect, watch a Yankee away game in the stadium. Many of their fans are obnoxious jerks.

If you're trying to represent the Yankees as the put upon, misunderstood franchise, save your breath. Go take $2,500 dollars and get a good seat for a single game ticket (double that to take a friend).

Because the Yankees are the best franchise in sports history. They can't accept it so they turn to insults instead. It's as simple as that. There's no need to write a 10 page essay about it.

I am a diehard Cubs fan and we NEVER win. But I do have respect for the Yankees. I can't wait to see them play the CUbs at Wrigley this year.

But let me toss this up there. If the MLB worked like the NFL and all the owners split all the money in the league, (meaning every team would have the exact same slary to give out) do you think the Yankees would have as many Championships as they have? My answer would be no. But just think about it.

Good question though! Love talkin baseball.

1) Why are other teams' fans so disrespectful to the Yankees?

Simple. It's because the Yankees fans are so disrespectful to the other team's fan. It's really just the Bleacher Creatures that give the Yankee fans the bad reputation. The Bleacher Creatures sign their own version of YMCA; they call it "Why are you gay?" If you don't know about it, check the links in my source. It's a real eye-opener.

Example #1: Ichiro Suzuki at the 2001 ALCS

- 2001 ALCS, the Yankee fans were cursing Ichiro Suzuki (in RF) in Japanese

- Ichiro is still harrassed at everytime he goes to (New) Yankee's Stadium.

Example #2: Cliff Lee's family at the 2010 ALCS

- Cliff Lee's family (wife and kids) are watching the game at Yankee's Stadium

- one group of people decided to spit at them repeatedly

- Cliff publically addressed that he's not "unhappy" but later he refuses to sign with the Yankees

Again, it's only a handful of people that are doing these shameful acts, but it really negatively affects the personae of being a Yankee fan.

2) Now about the Yankees and their Championships

Facts:

- 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 were EARNED NOT BOUGHT championships.

- the Yankees did not become the clear leader in payroll spendings until 2001

- the Yankees did have a high payroll, but it wasn't always the higest

The Yankees did sign some major free agents, but they had also raised some very good players, as well as some excellent trades.

Example:

Free Agents: Wade Boggs (1993 - 1997) and Darryl Stawberry (1995 - 1999)

Trades: Tino Martinez (1996 - 2001, 2005), Paul O'Neil (1993 - 2001)

Drafted Players: Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettite

Another Notable Fact: George Steinbrenner's ban from 1990 - 1993

- Steinbrenner was ban from the day-to-day operations of the Yankee's ball club

- Steinbrenner wanted to trade away Bernie Williams and Mariano Rivera for established free agents

- Buck Showalter (manager from 1992 - 1995) argued against Steinbrenner

- ultimately the Yankees kept Williams and Rivera because of Steinbrenner's ban

If it wasn't for Steinbrenner's ban, maybe things would have happened differently, but the past is the past. The championships in the late 90's are all EARNED. Get it through your heads people.

You may want to read the book "Stengel, His Life and His Times" by Robert Creamer. He actually writes about the sportswriters of the 1920's - 1950's saying the Yankees "bought" championships. Keep in mind that in those days, all players were, until they signed with a big league club. free agents. teams like the Yankees and the Cardinals would outspend their opposition in 2 ways - by paying higher signing bonuses to players, and by having actually signing more players to contracts by having larger farm systems. There were no limits on how many farm teams a MLB team could own at that time, so a team who had 20 farm teams obviously had more players than a team with only 3 or 4.

Also, players in those days were subject to a reserve clause, which basically meant that a player who signed with a big league club was basically their property. He could not go to another team unless he was sold, traded or released by his original club. And the Yankees, particularly once Col. Ruppert took over the team, simply had more money to give to other clubs for players. I won;t argue whether the ability to spend more is a good or bad thing - personally I don;t have a problem with it as long as their is no rule against it.

Keep this in mind - there was actually only a very short period in baseball history when the ability ot pay more to players, or pay more for them was not much of a factor. that would be the period beginning in 1965 with the institution of the draft (which meant teams did not have to outspend the others because they had the sole rights to a player) until free agency began in 1975. And you can't deny the fact that, during that 10 year period, the Yankees were pretty bad. It was only when they came up with the combination of being able to spend without limits (due to a lack of a salary cap) and an owner with deep pockets that they were able to become a dominant team again.

I will also add that, while I don't hate the Yankees, I realize that some people do. But keep in mind that, while not all Yankees fans are obnoxious (all teams have their share of fans like that), those who are use the same arguments you do. "Everybody cheats" ) not really - the number of positive tests on the "list" you are referring to was about 104 - not nearly "hundreds" and certainly not even close to "everybody" - more like about 14%).

Or they use the old "27" argument. I am as appreciative of the history of the Yankees as much as any other fan would be, but championships won before most of us were born are only relevant in a historical sense, and have nothing to do with the current state of the team. recent history plays a role - I would agree that the fact that the Yankees won in 2009 is a valid reason to think they should still be a pretty damn good team, but any before that are, for the sake of arguing the current state of the franchise, irrelevant. And given that most of the fans who use that argument probably weren't around even for the 1977 championship. it is even more ridiculous to use that to defend your current team.

Put simply, most Yankees fans simply throw out numbers and even blind accusations to defend their team. It's great to defend them with a clear head, but doing so while ignoring the facts (such as the fact that the Yankees have the highest payroll - again, not necessarily a bad thing IMO, but still a fact). And for the most part, those statements, even those that ARE true (27) are completely irrelevant.

Also, I seem to sense a tremendous sense of self pity from Yankees fans. They seem to not know the difference between someone honestly appraising their team and someone "hating" them. A good number of your fellow fans call anyone who says anything remotely negative (i.e - Posada seems to be getting a little older, and maybe should be a DH rather than behind the plate) a "hater".

Having faith in a team is great, and being supportive of a team regardless of how they perform is even better.

But BLIND faith is never a good thing.

And unfortunately, most of the more vocal Yankees fans (not including you of course) tend to exhibit that sort of "screw you - you're just a hater" attitude.

Sorry, but it's sort of hard to root for a team that seems to have so many fans who feel that somehow the entire baseball world, from fans to the media to MLB itself should lick the feet of the great Yankees.

I realize I am perhaps mentioning some stereotypes here. They are not necessarily my personal feelings, But I think are an accurate view of how other fans look at the Yankees and their fans.

I mean no offense.

Because some the Yankees fans are very disrespectful to other teams. Maybe you are not one of them, but I know there are many.

In addition, they did start the trend of the big money market winning games. Lets be honest, they did win a lot of games in the past decades because all those star players they overpaid year after year.

By the way, I don't disrespect to the team, I think it is a great team with a great history.

Heres the truthfull answer:

1. People THINK that the Yankees spend tons of money. This is true compared to a sucky team but they are kind of average among people. Also if youve seen Posada, Rivera, Jeter, A-rod and many other players, their super good but they weren't bought, they came from the triple A. The reason that they're good is supposedly that the Yankees have good trainers.

2. People think that Yankees won to many world series and think its boring

3. Some of the other teams suck and get beat by the yankees in the World Series so they get upset

Yeah, and the drunken losers at Wrigley would be rolling out the red carpet for Cardinals players, right? ------- Oh, right. I'm being accused of having "no respect" for opposing players by the guy who omitted Pujols from a list of the top five first basemen in baseball. You're the biggest hypocrite ever, and that's why you're pretending that Cardinals players would be treated well at Wrigley. They wouldn't be. And you surely know that they wouldn't be, but you are nevertheless pretending that the Cubs have classy fans, which they most certainly do not. Do you know that the Cubs finished 24th in the hospitality category of SI's fan survey of MLB ballparks? The Cards finished 1st, BTW. Why are you even pretending that opposing players or fans are shown respect at Wrigley? We all know it isn't true. As for me being a "Cubs hater" on this site, your fellow Cubs fans are a bunch of obnoxious pricks who start threads like "How bad do the Cardinals suck?" after every Cardinals loss. Oh, but the Cubs have real classy fans, don't they? Yeah... real classy. It's such a mystery why people like myself dislike Cubs fans, right?

Other teams fans are disrespectful because they are jealous. They wish their team had half the talent, love, and spunk that the Yankees do.

Plus they are more pissed because us Yankee fans respect other teams. We don't just throw everyone else under the bus and say that every other team is garbage like everyone does to the Yankees. Like you said, Yankee fans respect other teams that can step it up and give a run for their money.

You either Love the Yankees or you hate them, and i LOVE em
