I been thinking of this for a while. I want to know which is bigger a nfl football field or a mlb baseball field. I know they are both shaped differently. I just want to know which is bigger and by how much?

You could actually fit a football field in a major league baseball field. If you line up a football field with a baseball field so that one football field corner is on home plate and the length and width of the football field line up with the first and third base foul lines, you'd come up a bit short length wise but have more than twice the width (NFL football fields are 360 ft long including end zones, but only 160 ft wide; major league stadiums average around 325 feet down each foul line). Add in the foul territory (especially in front of the dugouts) and you could fit a football field in a baseball field with room to spare.

I football field is one size and cannot be changed. Baseball fields change from stadium to stadium. The basic distances of pitchers mound to home plate and distances between bases is the same but the distance to the outfield wall varies usually around 330 down the lines. Shorter in some of the older parks and almost always at least 400 feet the center filed so baseball fields are always bigger that football fields.

When baseball stadiums are converted to football use, they add stands near the field. They used to do that at Shea Stadium when the Jets played there. I attended some Patriots--Jets games there and they would add field level stands. They used to do the same thing at Angel Stadium when the Rams played there. They even added field level seats at little Fenway Park in the 60s when the Patriots played there.
By contrast, when the Dodgers played the Red Sox in the Coliseum in March the left field fence/net was at about 240 feet. I don't remember if anyone got a home run, it was only exhibition play and the games were late.

Football field 43,200 ft²
Baseball field (using an average of 380ft to the fence): 113,400 ft²
Football stadiums seat more because less space is taken up by the field, the build the stands higher, and they completely encircle the stadium.
Baseball stadiums tend to value intimacy over capacity, so most new baseball stadiums seat 40-45,000 and preserve some sightlines out of the outfield (e.g. San Francisco, Pittsburgh)

not sure, alto ftball field is 300 ft staight away and most baseball fields 400 ft+ , remember the dimensions are different. p.s. i think ftball stadiums seat more cause the field is four sided while a baseball field is somewhat three sided
