i just finished spring baseball of my senior year, now legion has already started, but i don't wanna play anymore

my legion coach of 4 years still wants me to play tho

i had a very bad season, the past 2 seasons have been very bad for me, cuz i lost my love of the game, i'm just so sick of it cuz i play it year round for the past 13 years

but the thing is, my coach won't take no for an answer

i went to him yesterday telling him that i don't wanna play, but he kept rejecting me, got me a new hat, and basically forced me to practice with them yesterday, even tho i had my glasses on and wasn't even wearing a cup or even socks

how do i tell my coach i'm done? he thinks that iwanna quit cuz i had a bad season, so he's doing everything he can to persuade me to come back, and i just wanna quit cuz i'm so sick of baseball

Everyone gets burned out at some point and it's easy to tell it's happening because you'll start to dislike something you love (like baseball). Right now, you need a break from baseball and it doesn't mean you need to hang up your cleats forever. It just means you need to find another interest which will take your mind away from the game. MLB players get burned out all of the time (it's a long season) but they find ways to cope by taking their minds away from the game.

Your game will suffer immensely if you consider yourself "forced" to play. Without the love for the game, you have no motivation. Take some time this summer to hang out with your friends and enjoy the weather. This will help you get your love for baseball back.

What to tell your coach? I would explain to him how you need a break from baseball and make sure to tell him everything you included in your question. He will not get upset at you but will understand exactly what you are going through. Tell him how you would like to become a better ball player but right now, you just need to take a break from baseball. In the long run, this will benefit your game and also, notice how quickly you get the itch to play again (might only take a couple months of not playing).

The last thing you should do.... is not show up. This portrays you as a quitter and someone not willing to put in the work. Quitting is a habit and if you start it now, you will continue to do it for the rest of your life. If the coach continues to harass you after explaining to him that you need a break, look into playing for a different team in the future. Remember, coach's will not harass you to play on their team if you can't play so obviously you are a good player.

I hope this helps and I wish you good luck in the future.

well, if you really want to play AND keep your good grades, just do your homework right when you get home from practice or school, i'm not sure exactly how much soccer influences your schedule, but just try not to procrastinate too much like talking with your friends or whatever, but if you are absolutely exhausted and you pretty much have to quit, then just tell your coach that you are loaded with too much homework, and soccer is making it much worse, and you would really like to continue playing, but it's too much for you, plus you're still sort of sick and injured, and don't worry about letting the team down, because if you are in poor condition while playing, you won't be doing them much good

Well tell him you quit, and then put the hat that he gave you, along with the jersey by his stuff and walk away. Even though it may not be "the nice thing to do", I would tell the coach to get over it, your done. If that still doesn't work, have your parents talk to him.
