Question:
Did anyone hear about what Shelley Duncan the Yankees Rookie did last night?

A 10 yr old boy a Boston Red Sox fan, went over to Yankee rookie Shelley Duncan for an autograph. Duncan obliged, and the boy was very excited. He had gotten signatures from lots of other teams, but never a N.Y.Yankee. When he got home he read what Duncan had written, and to his surprise, he couldn't believe his eyes. It said 'BOSTON RED SOX SUCK', and then his autograph. Now I am a die hard Yankee fan. True Blue. But how are our kids going to learn to be polite, if the grown-ups they admire do things like that. What say you?

Murcer wouldn't have done it. Pepitone wouldn't have done it. Mattingly wouldn't have done it. Guidry wouldn't have done it. And if The Boss wasn't so ill - and if it all checks out to be true - Duncan wouldn't be smirking today......he might as well have taken a Yankee uniform and thrown ink all over it.....a Yankee doesn't play such stupid games.

something's available yet he remains unproven and has many gamers to leapfrog merely before him... a million. Daisuke Matsuzaka 11-7, 3.ninety 9 era, 131 ok's. 2. Hideki Okajima 0.ninety two era, sixteen Holds 3. Dustin Pedroia .320, 39 Runs, 22 Doubles 4. Reggie Willits .301, 19 SB, 40 3 Runs 5. Delmon youthful .295, fifty two RBI, 40 5 Runs 6. Billy Butler .333, 26 RBI (34 video games) 7. Jeremy Guthrie 6-3, 2.88 era, 80 4 ok's No that is not any longer impossible, yet with this type of stable rookie type, that is not any longer likely... There are countless different beginners like Duncan who've had in user-friendly terms a cup of coffee that have additionally impresed this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, men like: Jacoby Ellsbury, Kason Gabbard, Ryan Rayburn, Ben Fransisco, etc... permit's see how he finishes the 300 and sixty 5 days, there's a explanation why he's a rookie at 27 years old.

A no class move form a player who hasn't (if you'll excuse the saying) hasn't earned his stripes. Over the years, I've seen and heard a lot of bad things from Yankees fans, but I generally like to hold the players to a higher standard. It's a real shame, because every time I see the Yanks here in KC, they're very curtious when kids want to talk to them at batting practice and what not. They could be jerks because they walk all over the Royals, but they're normally decent people. Makes the whole organization look bad.

Did the parents of this kid complain about the thousands of shirts that said Yankees suck, or the chants that said Yankees suck? I bet the 10 year old was chanting right along with them. It was a joke and people need to grow up and stop being cry babies. The kid should be thankful that he got an autograph. I can't stand all these people crying about every little thing. You can't say or do anything without some little b*itch bellyaching. Be happy with your autograph, realize it is a joke, and shut the hell up. 10 isn't that young, you're a 4th grader and maybe even a 5th grader. You should hear what these kids say on the playground. They know nearly every curse word and are already into the opposite sex. Grow up!

I'm with your Adrianne. It all starts with our Kids. They becaome the future fans and if they receive that treatment from a Baseball Idol they will grow to become an angry fan. What Duncan did was minor league and he's been a career minor leaguer and maybe thats why.

That's pretty sad.If that boy was a Yankee fan or not does not matter, Duncan should have been more respectful. He just wanted a damn autograph, is that so hard??The kids only 10 and obviously worships baseball players, no matter what team they play on.

If the kid's father was any kind of RedSox fan, he would never let his son get a Yankee autograph. It is kinda an unwritten code about those things. I am sure the kid was not all alone searching for autographs. What person does not look at the ball they just got autographed? Or even the father?

This does not sound like a true story to me.. but I guess you could say he got what he deserved. But very mean at the same time.. but quite funny if true. And yes, this player is a douche if he would do that to a 10-year old kid... a 40-year old man, different story.

add - Hmm.. I will have to check for it on PTI tomorrow. Still funny.. but then ridicilous at the same time.

That is pretty classless as are some the responses from some Yankee "fans" on here. Maybe he should prove himself as a full time major league player before proving himself as a full time major league jerk.

Being a career minor leaguer - the kid years from now will say out loud "who is Shelley Duncan??".

Seems like it was supposed to be a joke, that's gotten way out of hand. Combination of uptight people and the media looking for a story.

He is only telling the kid the truth. The sooner the kid knows it, the better. It wasn't like Duncan mooned the kid. I am only joking.

Another example why major league athletes get bad reputations. And why most are spoiled millionaire brats. I don't care if the kid is a Sox fan or not to me that is just un-called for.

I think it's funny. I'll bet you that kid's father chants Yankees Suck every chance he gets. so it's not like it's traumatizing to the kid.

I'm always amazed how sensitive Redsox fans are when the Yankee fans have comments about them. I lost all respect for them when they protested the Who's your daddy shirts. Yankees suck shirts, acceptable. Jeter sucks A Rod, what's wrong with that. But Who's your daddy, an they say "what do we say to our children?" as far as I'm concerned they can tell their little bed-wetters what they tell them every night "Touch me where I pee, and don't tell Mommy."

I did not hear that, I can't believe it's true. I hope it's some Red Sox fan making more anti-Yankee stuff up. The Yankees don't do things like that, and I'm sure Torre would not allow that garbage.

Sounds like an urban legend.

Dave would nail him to his locker while Chris rearranges his family jewels if he really did that.

EDIT:

Like I said, expect Dad and baby bro to come knocking on his noggin!

it really fits in - look at all the crap a-rod pulls - trying to cheat - like trying to purposefully knock the ball from the pitcher's glove in the playoffs or yelling at the toronto 3rd baseman - mine

thats just the damn yankees

Come on, if it's true, it's hysterical. Not to mention it will be worth tons of money someday!

LOL all your thumbs down are soo stupid. Try having a sense of humor. You take yourselves WAY too seriosly. Lighten up.

that was just funny.

and trust me, this incident is not going to turn the kid into some psychopath killer.

do you even know what the kids of today are learning and saying? There are so many ways the kids learn things.

That Kid probably said the word "suck" way more than that one time Duncan wrote it as a joke.

Joke or not, you dont do that to a kid. Maybe a grown-up. Just shows how much class the yankees really have....which is why I've always hated them.
