My father and I (both Red Sox fans) are going to Spring Training this year for the first time. I'm wondering what there is to do in the Fort Myers area (or surrounding areas) when we're not at the game. Does the park there offer tours like Fenway? Any other must-see parks within a couple hour drive? Just looking for anything to do while we're there, baseball related or not. Thanks very much for the help.

If you have the time take a short ride over to Sanibel Island. Beautiful beaches and crystal clear water of the Gulf Of Mexico.

There is the Ted Williams Museum at Tropicana Field, while there you could go to nearby Tampa and see Legend's Field the Yankees spring training facility. Here's a link for the museum : http://www.tedwilliamsmuseum.com/contactus/index.html

The Twins spring training home is also in Ft. Myers. You can visit the beach, there is plenty of shopping and dining and there are more spring training facilities in Sarasota as well. Former player Mike Greenberg has an amusement facilty and batting cages near the Sox's facility. Hope you have tickets in advance as there are many Sox fans who winter here and they are usually sold out. You can visit the Ford-Edison Estates and I would recommend taking an excursion down to the Everglades and take an air boat ride to see the alligators. There are also cruises you can take in Naples Bay to see dolphins.

You don't mention where you live but in Lancaster, CA (about 100 miles north of L.A.) is where the Red Sox single A team will play. They're the Lancaster Jethawks. Last year they were affiliated with the AZ Diamondbacks. This is the Red Sox first west coast minor league team in about 50 yrs. It's a great stadium and great fans.

This could be our year, just as long we can have a solid bullpen and maybe pick up Roger Clemens (doubt it) go down there and have fun "GO RED SOXS"
