Question:
What bothers you more...?

When your team's pitcher is pitching a great game and only gives up one or two runs but your team's offense can't get anything going?

Or when your team's offense is on fire, but can't catch up to all the runs your team's pitcher is allowing?

(Assuming your team loses in both scenarios.)

Personally, being a pitcher myself, I cant stand when I pitch a great game and my offense does nothing for me on the other side. I hate seeing a wasted effort by the pitcher just because the offense cant produce a couple of runs.

Both really bother me but I think that the first one is worse.

Nothing bothers me more when a good game by a pitcher is wasted. Part of this might be because I'm a Yankee fan. We have a lot of problems with starting pitchers as of late so when someone has a good game, I want to get the win.

The second scenario is just an all-out slugfest where usually both teams are not playing very well except for offense. Those are rarely ever heart breaking losses.

When the pitchers are doing great and the offense doesn't help. I always feel bad for the pitcher, he is doing all he can to get the win, but his teammates can't pick him up. When the pitchers are giving up a bunch of runs even when the offense is doing superb, you can some away from it saying, man, our team was on fire tonight. Hitting is more a team effort, so when they are not hitting well as a team, it is frustrating.

I hope that makes sense, it's kind of hard to describe.

I think when the pitchers are pitching great and the offense can't get it going. There is only one pitcher on the mound at a time and the entire team hits. If the pitcher is doing his job then some batters should be able to contribute too.

I can't stand when my team scores a bunch of runs and the pitchers give up more. That bothers me more.

I think it's hard to score 8+ runs in a game. Even an average Major League pitcher should have an ERA under 5.3 And that guy would probably be the 4th or 5th starter.

In that rare occasion when your team scores 8+, your team should win 90% of them. If you score 8+ and your pitchers give up 10, that's a really bad day!

I'd say the first one. Because by the 6th or 7th inning when your team isn't scoring runs you're kind of losing hope and praying you can at least get to the bullpen to try and hit off those pitchers.

When you're scoring runs but your pitcher is getting rocked at least you know that when you come back up to bat anything is possible because you've been hitting well all day.

So I'd say the first one, but they're both pretty darn annoying! lol :)

I never like to see my team lose, but I would rather it be in a pitchers duel than a slug fest. I will always take a good pitching performance win or lose. If my team continually pitches well, I know that we will be ok. When my team loses in a slug fest, it really bothers me because poor pitching always seems to carry over into the next few games. When my team uses up relievers in a slug fest and loses, now we have to pray for a good outing from our starters over the next few days to give the bullpen some rest.

They're both pretty bad but the first is horrible. It happened to the Yankees last night. Rasner pitched a terrific game and just let in 1 run. The Yanks couldn't hit their way out of a paper bag last night. Middle relief comes in and gives up 5 runs we lose 6-1. That bothers me a lot.

I hate losing a game that the pitcher has done his job well and the offense does not support him. Slugfest's are easier to cope with because sometimes you make a good pitch and the hitter's are just in a groove and everything becomes an easy hit....you just tip your hat to the hitter in those games.

No loss is fun, but I'd rather lose a slugfest than waste a near-shutout performance by the pitching staff.

Slugfest is more entertaining, and your team at least had a chance; the bats weren't asleep, they just weren't enough.

Always take a blowout over a squeaker if one must lose. A squeaker, your boys COULD HAVE won with a lick of luck here or there. A blowout, well, foo, some days the bear just eats you.

it is a rare occasion when the phillies have great pitching. and when this does happen it really annoys me to see the amazing offense that we have not be able to catch up. I hate those 2-0 losses or 3-1 or 2-1. so the 1st scenario bothers me more.

Im a giants fan!

The first one sucks...badly =[

Most of the time, we pitch great games, but our offense, consistant with the fact that we over-paid Aaron Rowand, can barely score any runs.

Also I see the being a problem for the Padres..

However it bothers me more when the Giants pitcher throws a great game, but their offense can't score 2 runs to get him the win.

Good luck!!

I will take option A. At least my pitching is good. The hitters could be facing a top pitcher that day which would explain the cold bats..

The higher the losing score, the worse the loss.

It's hard enough to come up with the roughly 5 runs to normally account for a victory, now if you are still beaten when scoring a dozen or more, you have to wonder just how much do you have to do to win a game.
