My coach told me that I'm gonna be mostly middle relief this year. I was just wondering what they do mostly. How often do they get saves? Wins?

To be a good middle reliever, watch my Mets' middle relief pitchers, and do the opposite.

Middle relievers rarely get saves, because they are the guys who pitch in between the starter and the closer. How often they get wins depends on their role. A left-handed specialist is usually in there to face only a few batters, so he doesn't get many chances to be the pitcher of record. A mop-up man usually pitches only to save the arms of the other pitchers in blowouts.

The hold was created as a statistic to measure a middle reliever's performance, and it is basically the same as a save, except that it doesn't occur at the end of a game. Really, though, you should probably be concerned with helping the team instead of with individual statistics.

Middle relief bridges the gap between the starters and the 'closer'

Long relief usually come in when the starters get blown out or to finish a game when you are blowing out a team.

For middle relief, you primarily pitch in closer games for an inning or two. They are more likely to get wins than saves because you can come in behind in the game and your offence can put you ahead.

They seldom get saves. They are the pitchers who bridge the gap from the starter to the closer. They can get some wins, especially if they are on a good offensive team. Most often, the middle reliever comes into the game when his team is trailing. This is a good situation - you can't take the loss, but if your team comes back, you can get the win.

Saves dont happen to much........wins if you come in and your team is tied with the opponent and then win you get the win but it also counts as a loss if you come in with a tied game and the team loses.......both of those are only if you are in at the end of the game or gave to go ahead run.....but middle relief is super important so dont think it is just a slop role to play....tons of mlb teams sucked this year because they lacked middle relief

They come in right after the starter goes out and before the closer comes in...Usually to pitch a couple innings, so figure if you're the top middle reliever, on pitching the 7th and/or 8th inning, depending on how the starter and the game is, before the closer pitches the 9th inning...

Rarely get a save, unless they decide to leave you in the rest of the game. You will be the set-up guy to the set-up guy. You will help the team get towards the 8th or 9th inning. Unless you are a lefty specialist when you will only face left handed batters. You will pitch at most 2 innings, or maybe more if its a blow out or they want to give your bullpen a rest.
