I have two Donruss 1990 cards and the name across the top is John Smoltz.
One is numbered 121 and the other is an MVP card and numbered BC-12.
The back of the 2 cards are identical. However on the front of the BC-12 card, the photo is not John Smoltz, it is Tom Glavine.
What can someone tell me about this type error?
I know errors on coins can be rare.
Thanks.

I know the card that you are talking about. It's red and has tom glavine's picture with MVP on the background of the picture. The most you would get for that card in mint condition is maybe $2 US. I've seen many many of those card

Just to put it in prospective for you Book Value 1990 Donruss Mark McGwire Error Card is .50 cents

GO TO EBAY and type "Tom Glavine Error" or "Smoltz Error" you will see your card going for .99 cents

-After Ebays Fees, Paypal Fees & Shipping & Handling fees you're still looking at 99 cents lol

-The rarest error card you can possible get is a Frank Thomas 1990 or 1991 I forgot which year but it's a Topps RC which is missing his name on the front of the card. That card is RARE! Book Value $700

While some errors on cards could be rare and valuable, the 80's and 90's were loaded with errors. That and the over production of cards from that era make the value of the error cards and the corrected cards, for the most part, not that valuable.

The earlier or later during the print run when the card gets corrected will determine which variation would be more valueable and supply and demand will determine the values.

Also since the BC cards were Bonus Cards and not really part of the base set that even lessens the demand even more. Like the other person said, you can get either version on ebay for $1 or $2.

This was one of numerous error cards from that set, too many in fact, that Donruss did on purprose during the "error card craze" which essentially did nothing to raise their value. The fact that that set is overproduced didn't help either - the errors ended up being worth about the same as the non-errors (since they put out about the same amount of each). You couldn't get a dime for the best card of the set. I had thousands of these a few years, literally thousands and couldn't give them away.

So that was 5 years ago. Tom is in the Hall now. Will it go up if Smoltz gets in the hall?????
