I'm a Cleveland Fan. Within the last year and a half, the Buckeyes have lost two BCS Championships, One NCAA March Madness Tournament Championship, BLEW THE ALCS When up 3-1 against Boston, Got swept against the Spurs, the Browns missed the playoffs by nothing, and even the arena football team lost in the Arena bowl last year from columbus.

October 3, 1982...Candlestick Park....The last day of the regular season... When the Dodgers arrived in San Francisco, the NL West was going down to the wire between the Dodgers, Giants and Joe Torre's Atlanta Braves. But the day before, the Dodgers eliminated the Giants with a 15-4 pounding and it looked like the Blue had a good shot at heading back to the World Series.. ...That is, they did until Dodger reliever Terry Forster served up a meatball to the aging Joe Morgan for a late-game, 3-run homer that gave the Giants the win and eliminated the Dodgers from the playoffs... I think that one still hurts because I was still a kid who lived and died with the team and 1981 had been such a lift after heartbreak through the late 70s at the hands of the Yankees and Morgan's former team, the Big Red Machine...

The worst single game loss would be Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, followed by Game 5 of the 1995 ALDS.
But as far as a series loss goes, nothing hurts worse than blowing the 3-0 lead to the Red Sox in 2004.

For me it's when the Yankees lost game 7 of the 2004 ALCS to the Red Sox. It was just everything. First, leading that series 3-0 and then having it all fall apart. Then, we are losing by 6 runs before the 3rd inning. It was like we never even had a chance to win that game. Then the Red Sox going onto the win the World Series just added insult to injury. I don't think that there will be anyway of redeeming that loss until we have a rematch. Another ALCS with the Sox and we win.

I remember a Braves/Rockies game in early '04. Horacio Ramirez started the game for the Braves and went just 3 1/3 innings but didn't give up a single earned run....the Braves were losing 8-0. Atlanta had 6 errors in the first 3 innings and finished the game with 7. Atlanta lost that game 13-4. Now that was an ugly and incredibly frustrating game to watch.

It has to be game 4 of the 2004 ALCS (that's the same one you're talking about, right?). Yanks up by one in the ninth, and ready to sweep. Mo walks Millar, pinch runner what's-his-face steals second, and then the Mueller single. The rest, as they say, is history. Games 5, 6 and 7 hurt also, but Game 4 is the one that sticks with me the most. Second worst lost also involves Rivera, and that would be game 7 of the 2001 World Series.

The Boston Red Sox losing in Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS on the Aaron Boone walkoff home run. I may say the 1986 Bill Buckner game, however, I was not born then.
Hope this helps!

Game 7 of the 2001 World series the game 31980 ALCS where George Brett hit that HR off Goose Gossage eliminating the Yanks & the way they collapsed in the 2004 Alcs Vs Boston.

The '06 NLCS when the Mets loss to the Cardinals. That game still bothers me 'til this day. Also, the last game of the '07 regular season between the Mets and Marlins. What a way to go out for Tom Glavine. For everything he did for the Mets, 7 runs in the 1st inning is what he will be remembered for.

I'd have to say the Buckner game in '86. The Sox had the series all but won and it just all went away. Buckner wasn't really to blame for the series though, the Sox Bullpen sucked that series.
"Did you hear Bill Buckner attempted sucicide after the '86 World Series?"
-"He stepped in front of a bus but it went between his legs"

the orioles got pummeled last year by the rangers 30 - 3
ouch, that pretty much sums up the last decade of the lowly birds - i don't think i'll ever get over this loss
another one that stands out - o's vs. yanks 1996 ALCS, all i have to say is Jeffrey Maier - i still want to beat that guy down! oh yea, and the umps to for ruling it a HR - idiots!!
and finally - steelers vs. lions - Thanksgiving day 1998, bettis clearly calls tails and the ref somehow hears heads and the steelers lose the toss and eventually the game

this still sticks with me.Now being a Umpire its hard to take but here it is.Game 6,1985 World Series,Jorge Orta was safe at first,on what now is known as "THE CALL",
called safe by Don Dinkinger. If he was called out the Cardinals would of Won the 1985 WS in 6 games.but the rest is history.
now i brought up Don and the fact that I also am a umpire, the man was OUT,he could of got help from the home-plate ump but chose not too. This game has stuck with me forever and will probably till the day I die.

The 2003 NLCS Game 6 when the cubs were 5 outs from the world series. Breaks my heart that they were so close but did not make it. I hate the marlins with a passion now.

That game broke my heart (and I'm pretty sure my fist as well). I couldn't believe we blew 4 straight, and that was the icing on the cake. The best playoff reliever of all time, gives up a bloop single to some hack one year wonder (look at his career stats). I can still see that hit...

For me it will always be the 2004 ALC'S how can the yankees
let a 3 game lead slip away from them in a NY minute? This will always remain a mystery to me.

in 2006....the Dallas Mavericks....#1 seed in the season #1 team in the entire NBA....western conference champs....was knocked out by a POS team (Golden State) in the 1st round of the playoff.....biggest upset ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and to follow that...in 2007/8 Mavericks owner Mark Cuban traded D. Harris, S. Diop plus 3 others and big chunk of $ for J. Kidd etc from New Jersey ....another bad bad decision
