What is it with Cubs pitchers? First with Wood now Prior? Prior has already been on the DL 9 times and he's only 26. Is his career of being a dominant hurler over already?

It was over before it began. He and Wood have the worse pitching mechanics I've ever seen. They were both doomed from the start. It's amazing that these high priced pitching coaches didn't have the eyes to see it nor the brains to figure it out.

His time as a starting pitcher may be over. And I say may because look at the Brave's John Smoltz. After multiple surgeries, they sent him to the bullpen, where he became a dominate closer, then worked himself back into shape so he's a starter again. I would figure this is what the Cubs will do.

To the idiot above me this is the second time Mark Prior has had surgery and not the first.
His body is too beat up to be a half decent effective pitcher and I'm not sure that will be good enough for a competitor like Mark Prior. He should hang it up.

Mark Prior's career has really been over for about 3 years now.

He will never be a dominant starting pitcher again. I don't believe that his career is over, but he may play a limited role, maybe at the end of somebody's starting rotation or in the bullpen. But he will never be as good of a pitcher that he was suppose to be.

Can you say Joe Mauer? One of the best moves the Twins have made. As far as Prior his career is prior or in other words from what I have read his career is done. He will never be the same as he once was.

No, his career is not over but this surgery might have an odd affect to his command of the ball. Doctors and staff all agreed that this is not a career ending operation.

To the guy that says your body wasnt meant to be operated on that many times: This is his first surgury.
To the guy that said "It had started?" He was an 18 game winner in 03.
And no, its not over. He may not be as dominant as he once was, but hes not done. Hes only 26 and young bodies are much more capable of recovering from surguries. If they give him time to get his stuff together in the minors for a while, he can be back in a few years tops.

Unfrotnatly, i think it might be, and i blame Dusty Baker for that. What a stupid decision to push him after just coming off the DL. Idiotic mornaic manager.

It should be. Your body wasn't meant to be cut open and operated on that many times. A career in baseball just wasn't meant to be for Mark.

hes only 26 years old...hes sitting out the season after surgery and HAS to want to take a sufficient amount of time to heal and recover...only time will tell if he is done, but in my opinion, no.

I thought it already was. Seriously though, ya it has been over for awhile. Same with Kerry Wood.

may be is over, if the Cubs leave him free no team will want him and there his career will be over.

Yeah dude, I'm from Chicago and I can tell one thing, WHEN ANYONE puts on the gay-blue and white colors (Cubs colors) their career is over.
