I'm not a fan but I really like Jeter. He's a great player and I saw them in Texas in 06..some kid got up from his seat to see him and Derek high fived him through the net. It was sweet. My all time fave is Bernie Williams, Paul O'Niel or DiMaggio.

For me it was my first recollection of the game and the player that stood out the most. Mickey Mantle was the "God" of baseball when I was a small child. I was drawn, as many youngsters were to the mythical power of this incredible athlete. He ran like the wind and could hit a baseball further than any player alive. As I grew up Mantle continued his remarkable career and to top it off the Yankees were winning.

Players were accessible during those years and it was much easier to talk with them and get to know them if only just a little. Going to Yankee Stadium was a real treat back then. You not only got to talk with them, you got the chance to walk on the same field as they did after the game. It's not that way anymore. Oh well...

If I had to make a list of my 10 favorite Yankees ( at least the ones I've seen in my life time) they would be as follows:

3. Derek Jeter

4. Whitey Ford

5. Ron Guidry

6. Bernie Williams

7. Roger Maris

8. Yogi Berra

Of all time Joe Dimaggio definitly, followed by every other Yankees from the 1920's to the 1950's.

In my lifetime toss up between Greg Nettles and Ron Guidry, but then there is Mattingly, and Munson was great.

More recently Tino Martinez, O'neil (ok well maybe not so recently but close enough) and Mariano Rivera, can't forget Petite.

Since I am a firstbaseman, my favorite Yankees are Lou Gehrig, Don Mattingly, Tino Martinez, Shelley Duncan and Andy Phillips. Lou Gehrig is my favorite of all because he symbolizes the American dream. He almost gave up baseball to be an engineer. He would have been the best baseball player ever, but he was taken down by ALS. I also like outfielders like Bernie Williams and Paul O'Neil.

They were truly magnificent!

Yankees had lots of great players throughout their history.....A Yankee's fan favorite doesn't necessarily have to have had the best stats (that goes really for any fan's favorites from any team as well)..........

Mickey Mantle was my all time favorite..........He won the Triple Crown in 1956 and that's something special........

Other favs for me are Whitey Ford, Elston Howard, Derek Jeter (is my favorite of today's Yankees), Chris Chambliss, Bobby Richardson, Bobby Mercer, Mariano Rivera and others..............Yanks had some great players thru the years...........CAT

no.. consequently yankee followers... they're the more serious followers of recreation save possibly eagles followers contained in the nfl. Yankee followers understand not something about baseball the technical or tactical aspects of the game or about different communities.. they're immature and they understand not something about sticking such as your team though thick and skinny... you supply em way too a lot credit guy... being a yankee fan is effortless.. thats why they're yankee followers btw.. MarK Buerhle is puffed up.. who needs an old pitcher that receives it over the plate each and each and every of the time.. save that up and pow!!!! homers each and every time chum...imagine hitters do not observe that stuff.. inspect David Wells in case you do not trust me. domicile run wells top.. purely throw strikes huh... Buerhle is a 5 on any onther team.. same to wells
