Ok so i play softball for my highschool team and i want to buy a bat this year before the season starts. I went to walmart because there is no sports stores around and i actually found a bat i kind of liked. But are bats from walmart ok? its 50$ and its an easton bat. Also high are the bats supposed to be? i cant tell if it might be too short for me, some of the other ones though seem like there too long and i kind of like the height and weight of this one. Is it a good bat?

First, check you bat size with this chart: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/info/index.jsp?categoryId=222857&backTo=2886831&infoType=infosport

Second, a bat that's $150-$300 is probably the best quality. You can just feel the difference. $50 isn't the worst, just don't get anything that's like $20. If you're dedicated to softball, I'd suggest getting a bat that costs around $200-$300. If you're just playing for fun, it'll be fine. The more expensive bats won't hurt your hands as much, has a bigger sweet spot, and it's easier to hit the ball (far).

Don't listen to Matt, because the bat doesn't have to come up to your hip or anything, you just have to pick one that feels right. What you really need to look at is the weight. I'm sure there's standards for each age group for the bat weight, but you really just need to pick a weight you feel comfortable. Do not get one that is TOO light, because they tend not to be as good quality or last as long. But DEFINITELY do not get one that's too heavy. You have to make sure you're able to get the bat through the strike zone quickly without strain, and a heavy bat doesn't let you do that. Basically, just swing the bat a few times and if you like it and it feels right, then it's probably the right bat for you. Make sure that the barrel is big enough too. Easton is a good brand, I've had some success with those bats, but a $50 bat probably won't be as good. I'd say get one at a sporting goods' store, and if you can afford it, spend a little bit extra to make sure you get a very good quality bat that works for you and will last a long time. Hope I helped!

my advice would be to get a Worth, maybe a Worth Mayhem, or a Miken like a Miken NRG or some of thier other bats are really nice. If you wanna stick with Easton, get an Easton Synergy! it's a really good bat. Theres nothing wrong with the bat you are looking at it just wont have the big POP some of the more expensive bats have. to break one it it will take a couple hundred cuts or use a rubber hammer, hitting it on the sweet spot of the barrell. Good Luck

Oh and size... do what feels comfortable to you, it depends on what type of hitter you are, if you area soft hitter that like to go opposite field then a shorter lighter bat might be for you, if you are stronger and like to hit hard, line drives then a heavier bat can put more pop behind the ball

The bat should come up to roughly your hip for the length. A bat from Walmart could potentially be ok, but something in the $50 price range is probably a pretty low quality. The things to look at are how many layers the bat has and what the rating is. There should be a number (i.e -7) printed on the bat that tells you the weight compared to the length. Check with your coach to make sure you are not going to buy a bat that is illegal to use in your games.

Ok, I play softball for a high school team also.

Bats from walmart typically aren't the best bats in the world to use, granted Eason is a good brad.

One thing to look for now a days in softball bats are if they are composite, if it is composite, then it might be a good bat to use, it it's not composite, it probably can't hit worth beans!

I would say that you high school team probably has the best bats for you to use.

Either way you go, good luck with the hitting!

In intense college in all probability no longer...they have somewhat standards for the bats and distinctive wood bats do no longer frequently meet those standards. i might examine with a coach or something, yet whilst it particularly is an common going rec league you're waiting to escape with it (some umps are strategies and nonetheless struggle by the valid regulations). Bonus answer: i want to verify Angels-Dodgers, yet my somewhat concept is Yanks-Phils. Oh and way off subject count, yet judging by the p.c....i desire the Coyotes are for genuine this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, they want something to flow their way. i'm a Pens fan and the Coyotes made them look stupid whilst they performed, all credit to the Coyotes.
