Just sitting here watching the Philadelphia/Colorado playoff game and wondering about this. Day games are so much more fun then night games.

$$$$ and ratings. The ratings for the night games on TV aren't that great and they'd be even worse if they played day games when most people were at work.

Well, the reason is very complex and a bit mysterious.

No, it isn't. It's money money money money.

There are playoff games during the day because there are more series being played, and if they played all the games at night, they'd be competing against themselves if on different channels, or not broadcast at all if only one station has the games.

No i will not spend the 200 dollars to watch the world series outside the stadium because that is still alot of money to charge people in order to watch the world series outside the stadium on a tv

Baseball would rather not have to compete against college football on Saturday afternoon or the NFL on Sunday afternoon. A day game during the work week would produce terrible ratings.

Two reasons -- most people work during the day and would have to miss the game, and there is also a lot more money to be had by playing in primetime.

they don't play in the day because the ratings wouldn't be as high as prime time television. that's all that matters anymore, if you're at work you can't watch the game on tv, but at night you can plan around it or whatever you want to do.

TV ratings. TV ratings are the highest in the evenings/night time so the advertisers will pay more for commercial slots. It's all about money.

There really isn't a good reason to be honest. It is purely for financial reasons. I wish they still had day games.

Ask Bud Selig.

I like day baseball as well, but it's all about the money just as others have just said.

It's all about revenue . . . and, historically to get those in the day jobs to the ballpark to enjoy the game.

Of course, this was back in the day when the players didn't make so much . . .

because that would probably not work with most peoples scheduals. you know, more publicity for the companies on commercials and such.
