yes, it counts as an out being made, so if you reach on an error in your only AB, you would be 0 for 1.

The only time the batter would not be charged with an at-bat is when he is awarded first on interference or obstruction, as each is scored as an error on the defensive player responsible. If, in the opinion of the scorer the obstruction had no effect on the play, the batter can still be charged with an at-bat. (For example, the first baseman obstructs the batter-runner on a fly ball that's dropped. The umpire could award the batter-runner second on the obstruction. The scorer could use his discretion and not charge the first baseman with an error, because it was the other fielder's error that made the batter-runner's ultimate advancement possible.)



An at-bat would also not be charged if the batter is credited with a sacrifice on the play.
