Question:
was Bob Costas's book in 2000 about salary caps ignored?

he had some really good ideas in there about a fair salary cap for everyone...I'm just wondering if MLB even considered any of it. (or if they even noticed it)

thanks

the only people who are against a salary caps are the teams and fans who benefit from the unfair advantages that teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies have. That includes Bud Selig.

I still don't understand how people think Salary control would somehow make the MLB more competitive? Where has it actually worked?

NBA: How has the salary cap helped the Clippers? Or Raptors? Or the Grizzlies?

NHL: Maple Leafs blow year in/year out; Blue Jackets are a bust. Islanders couldn't find centre ice with two hands a flash light

NFL: The same teams dominate every year: Colts, Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Cowboys (so they've had an off year in '11 - they'll be back), Packers, Bears. Ohh - NO found some success - where's the Cardinals, Lions, Chiefs, Rams? Abject failures, going on two decades.

Salary cap only gives the illusion of equality. When you ask for a salary cap at your job, I'll take you a little more seriously.

It's all about the players union. The union would never agree to a salary cap. Talk about an instant strike! Anyway, Bud Selig can't read!

I have some pretty "good ideas" also, but MLB isn't gonna enforce any kind of cap. They need the NY and Boston markets to win.

Because just like Costas himself, the book was silly and inane.

Let them make all they can get.

The only people dumber than Costas are GM's of MLB anyway. Big Deal

Id say so. Bud Selig doesnt care about fixing a broken product. MLB is just like college football. They dont care if its a competitive sport as long as it makes money.

Just looking at the signings of Werth and Lee, I'm guessing old Bud Selig never heard of it.
