Boston vs KC Royals, playing in Fenway park. DH is Ortiz and then they also pinch hit Gomes for Bradley?

I'm new to baseball but I thought DH is for AL and pinch hitting is for NL. How are the Red Sox doing both in a game?

The DH is a player that hits for a pitcher in the AL

You can always substitute for players, in either league. This can be in the form of a substitute (pinch) hitter, a substitute (pinch) runner, a defensive replacement, a new pitcher coming on to replace the old pitcher, etc. However, the player taken out is permanantly out of the game.

You were mistaken. The DH has no effect on pinch hitting.

The DH hits for the pitcher in the AL, but there's no rule against pinch-hitting for him or other players.

So in AL they can pinch hit even though they already have DH, and in NL they can only pinch hit?
