Question:
Why does Mark Teixeira get a free pass from Yankees fans?
2009-10-21 10:37:16 UTC
He is batting a horrid .120 this postseason and has a massive contract. Yet, no one is booing him or even talking about his struggles. If A-Rod was batting .120 this postseason, he would be getting booed loudly by yanks fans and the media would be hounding him. I know a lot of people don't like A-Rod for whatever reason, but why do yankees fans have more tolerance for teixeira than a-rod?

Also note that while A-Rod struggled in past postseasons, he was never as bad as Tex has been this postseason.

You tell it i think it's terrible how Tex has a big fat contract and he's not doing crap but Arod took so much BS from the yankee fans i'm sick of looking at Tex striking out.
and you are?

Postseason is not over yet- that is the biggest reason why. He still has this series and the next(most likely to contribute. Plus they are winning, they have only lost one game so far so the attention is not focused on the players who are struggling when there are other players carrying the team. You are right about baseball fans and yankee fans acting like they enjoy getting really hard on A-ROD when he is struggling. I am a braves fan and I don"t hate on the yankees or their players. I actually hope a-rod and jetter do good.

He isnt getting a free pass. He might be not hitting but if you watch the games he has saved as many games with his glove as Arod has won with his bat. Besides if the Yankees were winning & Arod wasnt producing it wouldnt matter. Its when you are loosing that people start booing. Besides Tex had a great hit last night

Arod has not outproduced Jeter in the post season, sure maybe just this series, but compare their post season stats and Jeter blows Arod out of the Water. Plus Teix is ahving a gold glove post season at first, Arod wasnt anything spectacular at third base.

He isn't getting a free pass. Though the guy isn't hitting up to his standards he's still playing gold glove defense.

You really can't compare Tex's first playoff appearance with the Yankees to A-Rod numerous playoff disappointments.

You have got to now not pay a lot concentration to Giambi then considering the fact that his glove is under traditional and his arm is usually the worst within the MLB. It is susceptible and VERY faulty. I have obvious many pickoffs allow the runner get to 2B considering the fact that of a foul throw. Also Tex's HR vigour is as well or greater than Giambi, and Tex has the potential to hit .three hundred+ and he is without doubt one of the first-class shielding gloves @ 1B within the MLB. Not to say he's approximately five years more youthful.... Also the Yanks would have received one hundred video games for the beyond three seasons if they did not have such significant quantities of accidents. It's loopy. So shall we seem ahead to subsequent yr getting C.C and Tex and NOT GETTING INJURED!!!

I would say its because of that the other side of the field, you know, when hes stretching his groin out to pull in those balls A-Roid throws to him that are in the dirt or 5 feet over his head, I hate the Yankees, but I like Teixeira because of his glove this post season. Theres also the thing where he passed going to their rivals the Red Sox to come play for the Yankees. Then there is the whole thing with A-Roid being a jerk for the past 4 years and steroids and all that good stuff.

Because Arod was supposed to be the best player ever at the time he joined the Yankees and didn't live up to the expectations until now.

Did you or did you not see the score of the game? I am pretty sure yankee fans are just plain happy for the moment. Sure - yes - if your team goes to the World Series you tend to think every player on the team contributed to that somehow.. the glass is not half full or half empty.. it's totally full so who is complaining at all?

i questioned this myself, but Tex has hit a walk-off HR, and that will keep him away from public scrutiny until the World Series, and the other reason why he isn't being criticized is because he has saved at least two games for the Yanks with his glove... hope that helps

I dont know about he is getting a free pass for playing as bad as he is right now.

I think it is more about his personality that make Yankees fans love about him. I dont think Teix ever in the headline or some BS. He is just going about his business and play baseball.

And maybe, his job is get Alex seeing all the potential pitches are coming so he can smack the living daylight out of the balls?

Again, Teix has one bright walk off moment as we speak so he is not as bad as you think!

Thats true, i give hima pass because we are winning and he helped out alot this year. But hopefully he change that stance because that why i see he is not batting his front foot way up front. And that glove work saved a few games

He is making up for his hitting struggle by having great defense.

Yankees suck and will blow it again. What kinda gay *** sport lets teams just stack themselves every year?

Baseball is a joke, nothing better than watching players give up on plays and jog to first when they should be running all out. You would think that with the contracts these players get they would give 100 percent every day
