Most series are 3 games, so they usually play 3 times in a row. There are a few 2 game series in there and a few 4 game series in there. Baseball is always played in a series, not game to game. Baseball plays more games in a season then any other sport and play on pretty much a daily basis. With 162 game season, switching teams daily would be far to much travel for teams. This is why they play baseball in series rather then game to game.

Yes, MLB teams play 3-4 game series and play teams back to back to back on most nights. There are 162 games a year and 3 playoff series in each league.

the mlb schedule is set up so teams will play series against each other... usually 3 or 4 games but sometimes just two... the schedule is unbalanced so that you play teams within your division more times than other teams...

What everyone else said, but in some instances there can even be a five game series, if there was a rain out that they're making up during a four game series.

The only time teams don't play each other twice or more in a row is make-up games for a rainout or any other reason. The most common series length is 3 games, however there are 2, 4, and have even been 5 game series' (but the 5 is also usually to make up a game).

they play in series of 2, 3, and 4 games because the travel would be way too much if they traveled after almost every game instead of almost every series in a 162 game season.
