I thought the entire All Star Game and all of the preliminaries were a tremendous insult to baseball and the Yankees fans.
The constant reminders of how historic Yankee Stadium is, taking out Jeter and A- Rod in the middle of an inning so they could get an ovation as they left the field, having the Yankees Hall of Famers introduced last at each position, especially saving Yogi for the very end, having Steinbrenner bring out the ball for the first pitch, having the Yankees players throw out that pitch, having Rivera saved until late in the game to try to get him the save or the win, you are right. All incredibly disrespectful. So disrespectful in fact, that the Yankees fans should tell MLB that they never want to have the Yankees host another All Star game unless they can guarantee that the entire lineup will consist of Yankees, except for one or two Red Sox players who will make a token appearance as the "designated enemy". ( God forbid a Yankee fan have to go to a game without having someone to boo - although I'm sure they'd figure out a way to boo someone else, or perhaps just pick another pregnant woman, completely at random, to threaten.)
It seems to me like most of the truly intelligent Yankees fans (and, despite the way it appears in this forum sometimes) have been embarrassed by the fact that some of their fellow "fans" (also know as bandwagon jumpers) couldn't put aside a rivalry for one stinking night, if for no other reason then to celebrate something which is more important then any team, baseball itself.
